NONOTAK

Founded in Paris in 2011 by visual artist Noemi Schipfer and architect-musician Takami Nakamoto, NONOTAK has established itself as one of the leading voices in contemporary audiovisual installation. Bringing together Schipfer's background in visual composition and Nakamoto's experience in architecture and electronic music, the duo creates immersive environments in which light, sound and structure operate as a single spatial language.

Their practice emerged through an architectural commission before expanding into installations and live performances that investigate the relationship between geometry, perception and movement. Using carefully choreographed projections, custom lighting systems, architectural frameworks and spatial sound, NONOTAK constructs temporary environments that appear to dissolve, extend or reconfigure physical architecture. Rather than decorating space, their work generates entirely new spatial experiences through the precise orchestration of image, sound and form.

Presented internationally at institutions and festivals including Tate Britain, Sónar, MUTEK, STRP, CTM, Melbourne Music Week and Cineum Cannes, the duo has developed a highly recognisable artistic language characterised by monochromatic palettes, rhythmic geometry and exceptional compositional discipline. Across installations such as DAYDREAM, NARCISSE, ZERO POINT, HIDDEN SHADOWS, SORA and MOON, NONOTAK continues to expand the possibilities of immersive art by demonstrating how minimal visual systems can produce profound perceptual transformation.

NONOTAK creates immersive environments where architecture, light and sound become inseparable components of a single spatial composition. Geometry forms the foundation of every project. Lines, planes, light and shadow are composed with architectural precision, allowing physical structures to dissolve into virtual space while maintaining a strong sense of material presence. Sound functions not as accompaniment but as an equal architectural element, shaping rhythm, duration and the bodily experience of each environment.

Precision is fundamental to the practice. Projection, LED lighting, haze, custom software and spatial audio are employed with remarkable restraint, allowing simple visual languages to generate complex perceptual effects.
