Biography
MAREO (Mario Rodríguez) is an architect and visual artist whose practice explores the relationship between landscape, matter and consciousness through sculpture, installation, painting and digital media. Born in Mexico City, raised in Medellín and now based in Barcelona, his work is shaped by the dramatic geological environments of Latin America as well as an architectural understanding of space, material and form.
Drawing inspiration from mountains, rivers, geological fractures and the invisible forces that shape the natural world, MAREO translates physical landscapes into sculptural environments that exist between abstraction and immersion. Layered contours, illuminated edges, carved voids and rhythmic topographies become recurring visual languages through which viewers are invited to move beyond observation and into embodied spatial experience.
Underlying the practice is a belief that matter can be understood as condensed light. Practice
