Jin Lee

Jin Lee is a Berlin-based media artist specialising in kinetic sculpture and spatial installation. Working with custom mechanics, physical computing, light, airflow and movement, he turns invisible physical forces into perceptible experiences. His installations transform space into a place of quiet observation, where technological systems reveal the rhythms and instabilities of the material world.

At the core of Lee's work is an inquiry into the human impulse to make the unknowable legible. Drawing on natural phenomena and complex patterns that resist complete prediction, he constructs systems that sit between engineered order and natural uncertainty. Rather than using technology as spectacle, Lee treats mechanics, circuitry and computation as precise tools for shaping atmosphere and perception.

Liminal Ring, a kinetic installation using 384 laminar-flow fans, crystallises this inquiry by introducing controlled currents into turbulent air. Presented internationally, including at Ars Electronica Festival 2025, the work makes the tension between control and unpredictability physically present. Projects including Echoes of Current, Synchronic, Luminal Section : Space, Kōan, Chaordic and Perceptive Pulse extend this investigation through movement, light, sound and responsive systems.
