A woven structure can define much more than its own physical boundaries. In LoomRoom, Thai artist Wit Pimkanchanapong explores how light passing through a sculpture can transform the space around it.
Presented at DIAGE Festival 2026 at CLOUD11 in Bangkok, the installation centres on a suspended geometric form composed of brightly coloured woven surfaces. Light travels through the structure, casting a network of intersecting shadows across the surrounding floor.
The patterns reveal qualities of the weave that are less immediately apparent when looking at the sculpture itself. The spacing between elements, the density of the intersections and the arrangement of the surfaces all contribute to what appears beyond the object.
As visitors move around the installation, they can observe the relationship between the suspended structure and the patterns extending into the room.
Pimkanchanapong's background in architecture provides a useful context for understanding this spatial approach. His wider practice brings together sculptural construction, technology and an interest in how physical environments are experienced.
LoomRoom offers a clear example of how an installation can influence the perception of an entire space without occupying it physically. The sculpture and its shadows form two connected parts of the same experience.
