SOL MACHINA

H3

2026 · Primaciálne námestie, Bratislava, Slovakia

A physical sphere forms the luminous centre of SOL MACHINA, but the experience of the work extends well beyond the object itself.

Created by Romanian creative studio H3, the installation arranges circular structures around this central core, allowing patterned light to travel across multiple surfaces and into the surrounding space. H3 connects its visual language to solar phenomena including the corona, aura and solar storms.

The installation changes significantly with viewpoint. As audiences move around it, individual structures overlap, align and separate. At certain positions, these distinct physical components appear to collapse into a single energetic form, while light cast onto the surrounding ground extends the perceived boundaries of the artwork.

Presented at Biela noc in Bratislava before continuing to Košice, SOL MACHINA demonstrates how light can alter our reading of physical structure. The technology is integral, but never needs to become the subject. Instead, it changes our perception of what is materially present.
