Resonanzen

ART+COM

2026 · Ichijo Ltd. Showroom, Chiba, Japan

Resonanzen begins with a suspended field moving through choreographies inspired by architectural forms and natural phenomena. When someone approaches, however, the sculpture’s behaviour changes.

Created by ART+COM Studios for the Ichijo Ltd. showroom in Chiba, Japan, the kinetic installation detects the presence of visitors and adapts its movement. It then asks a simple question: What does home mean to you?

The visitor answers through an illuminated microphone. The sound of their voice shapes the sculpture’s movement, while the meaning of their words informs a spoken poetic reply. Each answer produces a different exchange between visitor and artwork.

ART+COM describes Resonanzen as its first kinetic artwork to respond to visitors. The intelligent systems and complex engineering behind the interaction remain largely concealed. There is no screen to navigate or sequence of controls to learn.

The visitor influences the encounter without fully directing it. By retaining a presence and behaviour of its own, the sculpture shifts interactivity away from a predictable exchange of input and output. What emerges is closer to a conversation, expressed simultaneously through voice, language and movement.
